The Addiction Research Group (GRAd) is a research group of IMIM, recognised by the Catalan Government (2014 SGR 790). GRAd is also integrated in the Addictive Disorders Network (RETIC-RTA) funded by the Spanish ISCIII. At present the GRAd is the national coordinator of a translational research project on cocaine and/or alcohol use and psychiatric comorbidity, jointly with epidemiological, pre-clinical and clinical research groups from other Spanish institutions. GRAd staff is actively involved in clinical attention and pre- and post-graduate teaching activities in the UniversitatAutònoma de Barcelona and the UniversitatPompeuFabra.
The research group has a wide experience in working on comorbidity disorders, both in clinical practice and research projects. In concrete the GRAd has been focused in the co-occurrence between different psychiatric disorders (i.e. Depression, Psychosis, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder) and addiction to different substance of abuse. We have developed and validated screening and diagnosing instruments (e.g. Dual Diagnosing Screening Interview (DDSI) http://ecdd.fimim.cat) and different epidemiological and treatment studies.
Others lines of research of the GRAd are related to 1) Comorbidity with other medical disorders (i.e. HIV, HVC infection) with drug addiction; 2) New therapeutic approaches (pharmacological and psychosocial) in drug addiction in cases with and without medical or psychiatric comorbid disorders.
